Photographing babies | Frederick MD Newborn Photographer

When a Mum says to me "Sometimes... sometimes I just want to hold her forever. Does that make sense to you? She just smells so good, I want to take that smell and keep it forever", what I want to do, is take that feeling and immortalise it in print.

Babies are so tiny, so small and helpless, for such a short amount of time and it's so important to capture those moments so you can look back and know that it happened, even if it feels like you were living in a dream.

I am a natural light lifestyle photographer. My aim is to take photos which capture life, to encapsulate those moments of love, the early days of breastfeeding, and the happiness and magic which stems from having created a new person, so that families have those moments to keep forever.

From the excitement of pregnancy, to the emotion of labor & birth, to the chaos & love of a newborn, to the first year and beyond. I stand behind the camera, so families don't have to.  Sometimes I think I have the best job in the world...

The work I do as a photographer introduces me to people from all walks of life and families with babies of many varying ages. I love working with kids, it's such a challenge to get the great photos so when I do, I feel really proud!  I am passionate about all things pregnancy, labor, birth and newborn.  A friend once remarked, a couple of years after having our first babies, that most people 'get over' pregnancy and birth, but I was different, I embraced it, studied it, and made it an integral part of my life. After my first baby I trained as a doula, and alongside my full-time job as a University researcher and lecturer, I supported Mums through their pregnancies and births.  After my second baby, I started training as a Childbirth Educator, and started taking photos of other people's babies, not just my own.  Now my world is full of the beauty of new life; I specialize in maternity, birth, breastfeeding, newborn and child photography and I love it more than I've loved anything I've done before!
