Water birth with amniotic sac visible | Frederick MD Birth Photographer

A couple of days ago I shared this image on social media and it got reported and taken down! Not everyone loves a good birth photo, but a lot of people do, so I'm sharing here on my own website so that you can all see it and share it if you like!

I was lucky enough to be present at this amazing water birth. Mama labored hard and strong and we all thought the baby was almost ready to come out. The mom thought she could feel the head and as it came through, this is what we all saw!

So grateful to the family for letting me share this image of the amniotic sac bulging. Sometimes the baby's water doesn't break before birth, and sometimes -like here - the water bag comes through first before the baby follows! These labors can be harder and this mama really worked hard to bring her baby down and out. The water bag broke just as the head was being delivered. Amazing!

You can find out more information on the amniotic sac and just how awesome it is on Evidence Based Birth HERE!
